Hoy a las 8 de la mañana celebramos el primero de tres Ritos de Escrutinio.
Los Ritos de Escrutinio sirven para ayudarnos—no solo a los miembros de la clase de RCIA/RCIC (Rito de
Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos/para Niños), sino a todos nosotros—a examinar nuestras acciones y
motivaciones.
¿Cómo tratamos al prójimo? ¿Rechazamos nuestros prejuicios y nuestra parcialidad? ¿Tratamos de no juzgar
a los demás? Cuando tomamos una decisión, ¿tenemos en cuenta nuestra identidad formada bajo la alianza
con Dios misericordioso así como el camino de esperanza que tenemos por delante?
¿Estamos esforzándonos por afirmar nuestros “NO” y fortalecer nuestros “SÍ,” tal como nos sugiere la práctica
cuaresmal de este año? Si nos abstenemos de la glotonería, de una vida demasiado ocupada, del consumismo
y de otros comportamientos adictivos, ¿buscamos maneras de alimentar al prójimo y compartir con él,
movidos por el amor que vemos en la ley de la alianza de Dios y en la vida y muerte de Jesús?
Sin oración, rápidamente nos hundimos en un orgullo mezquino y en el egoísmo. Decidámonos a dedicar un
período de tiempo cada día a orar más, a escuchar en silencio y a fortalecer la iglesia del hogar—la familia—
en todas sus más diversas formas.
Gracias a todos que han atado una cinta en la cruz junto a la fuente bautismal. Mientras avanzan los
cuarenta días de Cuaresma, pensemos en cómo podemos acercarnos más al Señor y al prójimo.
Parishioners, blessed friends of Haiti, please look into your hearts and be generous as you fill your Lenten
banks to help us serve more children of Fond Pierre. This year’s Lenten bank collection will be donated to add
textbooks for grades 7 to 9. Fr. Roderick, Pastor of our twin parish in Fond Pierre, Haiti, is still grateful for all
the books he was able to purchase last year for the younger grades and for which he sent many thanks on
behalf of the people there. The St. Patrick’s Haiti committee thanks you on behalf of our twin parish, and we
invite you to join us at our meetings or to share ideas with us.
Your Haiti Committee is arranging a visit by parishioners of Saint Patrick’s to our twin parish, St. Peter’s, in
Fond Pierre, Haiti, during the last week of 2015 into the first week of 2016 (exact time period yet to be
determined). The people of our twinned community are very welcoming, so it will be an enlightening and
exciting adventure into another culture. If you are over 18 and have any interest in visiting Haiti and learning

information. The Haiti committee can provide details on how to prepare and some financial assistance.

from obscurity to a 151-game winning streak that shattered all
records for any American sport, teaching them about faith and
commitment along the way.
When: Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Stackhouse Theater, Elrod Commons, W&L
This is a great movie that will appeal to any age, perfect for
family viewing. You are welcome to walk over with us as a
group after 5:00 p.m. Mass. Admission is free, but the theater
has only 189 seats so this will be first come, first serve.
