Good morning, Prescott School.
Buenos días, Prescott School.
It is wonderful to be with you here today as you begin not only a
new bimester but also a new era in the life of the school.
Es maravilloso estar con ustedes hoy para comenzar no sólo un nuevo
bimestre, sino también una nueva era en la vida del Colegio.
New beginnings are always exciting, because you are starting fresh:
on the first day of a new bimester, a new year, or a new era,
everything is still possible, and we all want to do our best and to
learn the most that we can.
Nuevos comienzos son siempre emocionantes. Para ustedes significa
empezar de nuevo: en el primer día de un nuevo bimestre, un nuevo año,
o una nueva era y todos queremos hacerlo lo mejor posible y aprender lo
más que podamos.
Hold on to that feeling of newness of hope and of possibility, and as
we move forward together, let nothing deter you from your best.
Let bilingualism and internationalism be your goal and excellence
be your guide. Excellence should be our highest aim and constant
measure.
Excellence involves many things. It involves discernment: doing
things right and doing the right thing. It means having good
intentions, following through to completion, and reflecting on what
we have accomplished and how we have accomplished it.
Excellence means working together and finding creative solutions.
And it means thinking of others.
As you go into this bimester, think not only of how you can be
excellent yourself but also of how you can bring out excellence in
others. How you can work well together. How you can help others
excel. How you can work with your teachers and classmates to
achieve the best thing in the best way, and how you can leave the
school a better place for your efforts.
So as you begin this last bimester and begin this new era of
bilingualism and internationalism, I say to all of you. Prescott
School - this is our time to be excellent!
Mantengamos esa sensación de novedad, de esperanza y de posibilidad, y
a medida que avanzamos juntos, que nada nos impida hacer lo mejor
posible. Dejen que el bilingüismo y el internacionalismo sean su meta y la
excelencia, su guía. Excelencia debe ser el objetivo prioritario y la medida
constante.
Excelencia implica muchas cosas. Se trata de discernimiento: hacer las
cosas bien y hacer lo correcto. Significa tener buenas intenciones y
reflexionar sobre lo que hemos logrado y cómo lo hemos logrado.
Excelencia significa trabajar juntos y encontrar soluciones creativas. Y eso
significa pensar en los demás.
Al entrar en este bimestre, piensen no sólo cómo uno mismo puede ser
excelente, sino también en cómo se puede poner de manifiesto la
excelencia en otros:¿Cómo se puede trabajar bien juntos?, ¿Cómo puedes
ayudar a otros a superarse?, ¿Cómo puedes trabajar con tus profesores y
compañeros para lograr lo mejor de la mejor manera?, ¿Cómo se puede
hacer del Colegio un mejor lugar por tu esfuerzo?
Así que al iniciar este último bimestre y comenzar esta nueva era del
bilingüismo y el internacionalismo, les digo a todos ustedes: Prescott
School, ¡Este es nuestro tiempo para ser excelentes!
