CIVIC CEREMONY HONORING THE HEROIC CADETS.
Presentation of the “Consul for a day”
Tuesday, September 13th

10 a.m.
The Consulate General of Mexico in Denver and HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op
will hold a civic ceremony commemorating the battle that the Heroic Cadets (Niños
Heroes) had at the Chapultepec Caste in 1847.
Also, Hector Galindo, a High School student with HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op’s
Parkhill Academy in Denver, will be introduced on Tuesday, Sept. 13th, as the first “Consul
for a Day” in Denver. Hector will raise the flag as Consul for the Day and will perform
several activities in consulate as consul for the day.
This is the first time that the Commnity Affairs Department of the Consulate General of
Mexico will have the Consul for a day program. The goal of this program is to recognize
students for their academic and leadership achivments and encourage them to continue
their education by giving them the opportunity of knowing closer the consular work.
Galindo will participate in the Niños Heroes celebration on Sept. 13th starting at 10 a.m.
and the Mexican Independence Day festivities, Sept. 15th-18th, being organized by the
Mexican Consulate. HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op (www.hopeonline.org) is a K12th charter school in Colorado serving more than 2,000 students throughout the state.



10 a.m. Welcome to Hope students and presentation and appointment of the
Consul for the day at the Mexican Cultural Center galerie.
10:15 a.m. Students will submit their drawings for the Este es mi México contest.
10:30 a.m. Civic ceremony and flag rising. 6 escorts carring the flag
formed by HOPE students.


11:00 The Consul for the Day, Hector Galindo, will tour the Consulate, and hand
out some documents.
The Consul for the Day will be available for interviews and photos.

El Consulado General de México en Denver y la escuela HOPE Online Learning
Academy Co-Op realizará honores a la bandera en conmemoración de la batalla de
1847 en el castillo de Chapultepec.
Se nombrará al estudiante de secundaria de HOPE, Hector Galindo, joven mexicano
proveniente de Ciudad Juárez, como “Cónsul por un día” previo al izamiento de bandera
y realizará diferentes actividades el Consulado como parte de su nombramiento. Además
acompañará al Consulado a eventos del Grito de Independencia los días 15 y 18 de
septiembre así como a otros eventos.
“Cónsul por Un Día” es un programa del Consulado General de México en Denver que
reconoce a un estudiante de origen mexicano con excelencia académica, cooperación
comunitaria y liderazgo; y busca dar a la niñez la oportunidad de aprender más acerca
del trabajo consular.
HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op (www.hopeonline.org) es una escuela K-12 de
tipo charter, que da servicio a más de 2,000 estudiantes en todo el estado de Colorado.
Un grupo de 50 niños de la mencionada escuela asistirán a la ceremonia cívica y
entregarán sus dibujos para el concurso “Este es Mi México”.





10 a.m. Bienvenida al Consulado, presentación y nombramiento del “Cónsul por
un día” en la galería del Centro Cultural Mexicano.
10:15 a.m. Entrega de dibujos para el concurso de dibujo infantil “Este es mi
México”.
10:30 a.m. Escolta formada por 6 niños de la escuela HOPE.
11:00 El Cónsul por un día recorrerá los diferentes departamentos del Consulado
y además de entregar algunos documentos tramitados ese día.
El “Cónsul por un día” estará disponible para entrevistas después de los eventos.
